Mean: Also known as average.   Add all the values in your data set and divide by the number of observations we have.

Example:   Data set 1, 3, 5, 6, 8, 11

1. Find sum 1 + 3 + 5 + 6 + 8 + 11 = 34

2. Number of observations = 6

3. Mean: 34/6 = 5.7 (rounded off to nearest tenth)
