This Career Exploration Class was created for the Michigan Department of Education in Moodle by Anne Thorp of the Ottawa Area Intermediate School District.

    • Launch cFWD

      Click the link below to enter Career Forward.   Next, click "Access the Course", then check the circle next to "I am a student..." and hit "Submit" to accept the user agreement.   Now click on the "Overview" link in the blue bar at the top of the page, then  select "Launch the Program."   The first time you launch the program, you will need to select "Register" and follow the steps to set up your account.   From then on when you return to "Launch the Program", you will click "Log in" and enter the username and password you created.

      Hopefully, you're starting to think that you can't start planning early enough for your future. It comes up pretty fast! Hopefully, you have some ideas about how and where to start your planning. You know what it's like to be a student, but what is it like to have a job?

      This module will help you get your mind around the world of work. Click Launch cFWD and view the Module 2 Challenge - "What is the World of Work Like?"

      After viewing the segment, complete the Initial Thoughts Journal below.

      So, what's your idea of the world of work now? Some of you might be thinking, "I guess it's sorta what I thought it's going to be like." Others might be like, "Maybe being a professional student isn't a bad thing!" All kidding aside, having an honest and realistic sense of what things can be like in your future will allow you to make great choices as you move along your path.

      It's time to move onto the next module and Challenge Scenario. The focus will still be on your future and the world of work, but taken from a different angle.

Digging deeply into what is really out there and realizing that you do have more control over your future than you realize is very powerful. But "knowing" is just the first step. It's what you do that makes it real.
